Project Description

Conservation and restoration work of Jaisalmer Fort (Preparation of SMP) World Monuments Fund ,USA / Sanrakshan Heritage Consultant 13.08.2003 2020 A tripartite MoU was signed between National Culture Fund (NCF), Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and The World Monuments Funds, New York on 13th August, 2003 for conservation preservation and development of Jaisalmer Fort.
The purpose of the project was to:-
(i) Provide a model partnership between ASI, WMF and NCF in major cultural heritage conservation project.
(ii) Establish an approach to project planning, implementation and reporting of the highest international standard through jointly determined projects that could be used as a model for replication elsewhere as a case study for conservation and preservation of living cultural heritage.
The master plan for development of Jaisalmer Fort were: The assessment of the structural conditions, monitoring and management of water intake and sewage discharge, solid waste management, underground cabling, signage, declaration of conservation zones, ecological changes, management and development. The project was successfully completed in 2020.
