Project Description

Kanheri Caves are group of caves and rock-cut monuments cut into a massive basalt in the forests of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. The cave complex comprises one hundred and nine caves, carved from the basalt rock and dating from the 1st Century BCE to the 10th century CE. Kanheri comes from the Sanskrit Krishna Giri, which means black mountain.
Facilities provided : Entrance Gate & Modification of high Stairways with additional Ramp for differently able / Ticket Counter & Publication Counter building / Interpretation Center / Cafeteria Building with facilitated viewing platform on top / Multipurpose Hall for Exhibition / Installation of Deep Tube Well and DG Sets / Toilet Blocks, Signage's, Sit-outs & Landscaping / Provision of Solar Power 20 KVA
Facilities handed over to ASI on 03.02.2021
